Ole Miss Rebels Ranked in Latest ESPN FPI Top 25

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels were included in the Top 25 of the first Associated Press Preseason Poll on Monday, and they received an even more favorable ranking in the latest ESPN Football Power Index (FPI) rankings.

"The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season," per ESPN. "FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is."

"Projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily. FPI data from seasons prior to 2019 may not be complete."

After being ranked No. 22 in the AP Preseason Poll, the Rebels climb to No. 16 in the updated FPI hierarchy.

Ole Miss will face four teams on this list in 2023, including three of the teams that made the top five. The other SEC programs that were included in the FPI rankings are Alabama (No. 2), Georgia (No. 3), LSU (No. 4), Tennessee (No. 12), Florida (No. 18), and Texas A&M (No. 19).
