Ole Miss Transfer Target WR Keon Coleman Has Rebels In Top 2

Michigan State Spartans transfer wide receiver Keon Coleman had 58 catches, 798 yards and seven touchdowns, which were eighth, sixth and sixth, respectively, in the Big Ten last season.

It won't be easy replacing the losses of wide receivers Jonathan Mingo and Malik Heath, but Michigan State Spartans transfer wide receiver Keon Coleman wouldn't be a bad start.

Someone in Coleman's circle told Noles247's Brendan Sonnone that the transfer prospect narrowed his top-two options down to the Ole Miss Rebels and Florida State Seminoles. Inside The Rebels' David Johnson said Coleman's decision could come as early as Wednesday.

The Opelousas, La., native took an official visit to Florida State on May 6 before heading to Oxford on May 9 and canceling his final visit to Texas A&M.

"At the end of the day, regardless of what you've got in your room, if you feel I'm the missing piece, I'm going to come in there and compete and show you why you felt I was the missing piece," Coleman told OMSpirit.

The No. 42 wide receiver and the No. 13 player in the state of Louisiana in the class of 2021, Coleman spent his first two seasons in East Lansing, Mich., with the Spartans.

In his freshman season, he played in 10 games, bringing down seven catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. However, his production jumped to team highs in 2022.

Last season, the 6-4, 215-pound receiver led the Spartans with 58 receptions, 798 yards and seven touchdowns.

There's a gaping hole at wide receiver for the Rebels without Mingo and Heath's combined 111 catches, 1,832 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. However, if Jordan Watkins and Dayton Wade elevate their game and the Rebels can land Coleman, whoever earns the starting quarterback nod out of camp will have a wealth of pass-catching options at their disposal.
