Ole Miss Rebels Jaxson Dart Among Highest-Graded QBs This Season Per PFF
OXFORD, Miss. -- We have reached the midway point of the 2023 season for the Ole Miss Rebels, and the team is currently in a great spot, as they own a 5-1 record entering their bye week.
Ole Miss' early success can be attributed to its defense, but the clear-cut midseason MVP for the Rebels is definitely quarterback Jaxson Dart.
On Wednesday, Pro Football Focus released rankings for the 10 highest-graded quarterbacks in all of college football this season, and Dart came in at No. 7 with a grade of 90.9.
PFF grades are determined on a play-by-play basis, and posit how much an individual player "contributes to production" on every snap.
Dart is in elite company as Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix leads the way with a 93.7, followed by Miami's Tyler Van Dyke (92.8), LSU's Jayden Daniels (92.5), Colorado's Shedeur Sanders (92.2), Micigan's J.J. McCarthy (91.6), Georgia's Carson Beck (91.4), North Carolina's Drake Maye (90.2), Penn State's Drew Allar (90.1), and Oklahoma's Dillon Gabriel (90.0).
Through six games, Dart has thrown for 1,638 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and just two interceptions with a QBR of 81.2. Midway through the 2022 season, Dart had already thrown five interceptions and finished the year with 11.
The Kaysville, Utah, native has also been a productive runner for the Rebels. Dart has been fearless on the ground recording 302 rushing yards and four touchdowns already. Dart only rushed for one touchdown last year and is currently the second-leading runner on Ole Miss this season.
It is all about how you finish, however, and the Rebels still have a tough slate ahead of them, starting with a road game versus the Auburn Tigers on Oct. 21.
