Ole Miss Rebels Land Commitment From Illinois Transfer Portal DB Tahveon Nicholson
OXFORD -- The Ole Miss Rebels' momentum in the transfer portal continued on Saturday afternoon, picking up a commitment from Illinois Fighting Illini transfer defensive back Tahveon Nicholson.
Nicholson announced his commitment to the Rebels on social media, and you can view his post on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, here. This continued a bug run for Ole Miss on the defensive side of the transfer portal, as the Rebels gained a commitment from Arkansas linebacker Chris "Pooh" Paul Jr. on Friday night.
During three seasons with the Fighting Illini, Nicholson accumulated 66 total tackles, 14 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one interception.
The defensive back is a native of Jacksonville, Fla., and he played his prep ball at Riverside. Entering his 2023 junior season, Nicholson earned Preseason All-Big Ten honors from Athlon and Pro Football Focus. His season-high in tackles this season (6) came in an overtime win over the Indiana Hoosiers.

The Rebels are reportedly hosting multiple transfer portal targets in Oxford this weekend, including wide receiver Juice Wells from the South Carolina Gamecocks. Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart posted a photo on Friday night of head coach Lane Kiffin with his dog Juice and Wells.
So far in this cycle, it appears that the Rebels are continuing their trend in recent years of hitting the portal hard and often, and the philosophy paid off this season as Ole Miss secured 10 regular season wins for the second time in three seasons.
