Ole Miss Rebels’ Lane Kiffin Makes Request Of Jeff Lebby For Future Egg Bowls
Ole Miss Rebels coach Lane Kiffin has been busy on social media in the last week, and his activity has been primarily directed at the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Ole Miss beat Mississippi State 17-7 in the Egg Bowl to lock up its second 10-win regular season in three years, which gave Kiffin enough bulletin board material, but then the Bulldogs went out and hired his former offensive coordinator, Jeff Lebby.
Lebby was announced as the Bulldogs' 36th head coach on Sunday morning, and the friendly trolls have rolled in from Kiffin ever since. Ole Miss' unofficial mascot, Juice, even got in on the social media fun but pointed out that he was not allowed to be in attendance at the Egg Bowl. Juice's account on X (formerly known as Twitter) posted a story from TheSpun that showed Kiffin's girlfriend enjoying the Egg Bowl with the caption: "dad brought her instead of me?"
Kiffin responded to his dog's inquiry with an explanation and a request for Lebby and the Bulldogs.
"We tried son. @HailStateFB said you weren’t allowed in the stadium. Maybe uncle Jeffrey will change that rule." - Kiffin via X on Tuesday.
Fortunately, Mississippi State will not be able to keep Juice away from the game next season, as the Egg Bowl is set to be held in Oxford in 2024. The question now is whether or not "uncle Jeffrey" will welcome Juice into Davis Wade Stadium for the 2025 contest.
Lebby Hire Signals New Era In Ole Miss, Mississippi State Rivalry
Lebby was with the Oklahoma Sooners by the time Juice first arrived in Oxford, but maybe he will show a soft spot for his estranged nephew.
