Now that spring practice has concluded, college football "talking season" is swiftly approaching, a time in the summer where analysis attempts to fill the void in one of the biggest sport markets in the United States.

To that end, CBS Sports recently released its Top 100 college football players of 2024, and five Ole Miss Rebels made the cut, including returning talent from last season's roster and incoming talent via the transfer portal. You can view a list of the Rebels who made the rankings below alongside where they landed in the pecking order.

23. WR Tre Harris

27. DT Walter Nolen

47. EDGE Princely Umanmielen

56. QB Jaxson Dart

58. TE Caden Prieskorn

Harris, Dart and Prieskorn were all integral parts of Ole Miss' storybook run in the 2023 season, helping lead the program to its first-ever 11-win season in Lane Kiffin's fourth year at the helm. Nolen and Umanmielen joined the Rebels this offseason from Texas A&M and Florida, respectively, in an attempt to reignite Ole Miss' defense under the leadership of defensive coordinator Pete Golding.

What's interesting, however, is that none of these players signed with Ole Miss out of high school. All five of these names suited up for another college program, at one point or another, and eventually made their way to Oxford via the portal. That shouldn't be surprising for the well-read student of college football, however, as that has been one of Kiffin's key recruiting strategies since the portal's advent.

Harris joined Ole Miss prior to the 2023 season from the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, and Prieskorn came by way of the Memphis Tigers. Of the names on this list for the Rebels, Dart has been in Oxford the longest, coming over prior to the 2022 season from the USC Trojans.

The Rebels have a bit of down time before revving back up for fall camp, but it won't be long before the 2024 season is officially underway. Ole Miss will open its campaign at home against the Furman Paladins on Aug. 31.
