The No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels were already facing a steep test this weekend when they travel to face the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs, but now, they will have to do so without one of their key offensive linemen.

Right tackle Micah Pettus has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Georgia, according to reports from 247Sports. Brad Logan stated on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, that Pettus suffered a "serious injury" in Wednesday's practice, breaking a bone in his foot. He has been the Rebels' starting right tackle in 2023 and has played in every game for Ole Miss dating back to last season.

This injury comes at an inopportune time for a Rebels offense that struggled early with its offensive line production. Georgia's defense may not be as dominant thus far as it has been in seasons past, but it is giving up a mere 15.4 points per game this season. Even with offensive firepower at the skill positions, Ole Miss will need as many healthy bodies as possible to counter that kind of immovable object from the Bulldogs.

A loss on Saturday would eliminate Ole Miss' outside shot at an SEC West title and College Football Playoff appearance. In order for the Rebels to reach the conference championship game, it would need the Alabama Crimson Tide to drop their final two conference games alongside Ole Miss winning out in league play.

Kickoff between Ole Miss and Georgia on Saturday night is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on ESPN.
