Where Do The Ole Miss Rebels Land in Midseason Bowl Projections?
OXFORD, Miss. -- The No. 13 Ole Miss Rebels are officially halfway through their regular season schedule and currently own an overall record of 5-1 (2-1 in SEC). The Rebels have a bye in Week 7 which means no Ole Miss football on Saturday, so we might as well look ahead and see where the team is projected to finish the 2023-24 season.
Ole Miss is in a good spot midway through the regular season, but a lot can change between now and Week 12. Just last year, the Rebels went 7-1 before finishing the 2022-23 season 8-5 with a loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Texas Bowl.
According to recent projections, the Rebels are expected to finish their season in the Sunshine State. The latest projections for Ole Miss from three different publications can be found below.
CBS: Jan. 1 -- Citrus Bowl
Matchup: Wisconsin Badgers (Big Ten) vs. Ole Miss Rebels (SEC)
Athlon Sports: Dec. 29 -- Gator Bowl
Matchup: Louisville Cardinals (ACC) vs. Ole Miss Rebels (SEC)
USA Today: Dec. 29 -- Gator Bowl
Matchup: Miami Hurricanes (ACC) vs. Ole Miss Rebels (SEC)
As mentioned above, a lot can change between now and the beginning of December. If the "Lane Train" keeps rolling the rest of the way, Ole Miss could realistically finish the year with just two or three losses. There is also the possibility, however, that the team fizzles out like it did in the second half of 2022, but I doubt we see those results again.
This Ole Miss team has already proven to be tougher than last year's group and with a bye week right in the middle of the season, the Rebels are in a good position to make a push for the SEC West title.
