Greg McElroy Believes Rebels are the 'Most Dangerous' SEC Threat in 2023

Greg McElroy started coverage for the 2023 SEC Media Days with a bold prediction for the Ole Miss Rebels.

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels have a difficult slate of opponents this fall, but could they also be the most dangerous team in the Southeastern Conference? Greg McElroy sure thinks so.

Coverage for the 2023 SEC Media Days began on Monday, and McElroy started the event by explaining why he thinks Ole Miss is not a team to be trifled with this season.

"Ole Miss is the most dangerous team in the SEC," McElroy said via SEC Now. "Nobody's talking about them. They have improved on the defensive side of the ball, just with who is going to be calling their defensive plays."

Adding Pete Golding to his staff is arguably the biggest upgrade Lane Kiffin made this offseason. While it may take time for Golding to get his players in the system, this unit should see significant improvement after surrendering an average of 35 points over the final seven games of the 2022 season.

If players buy into Golding and his scheme quickly this fall, the Rebels will have a better shot at taking down their tougher conference opponents.

Ole Miss' bread and butter in 2023 will be its rushing attack spearheaded by sophomore Quinshon Judkins, but McElroy is convinced that a more balanced offense coupled with an improved defense makes the Rebels a serious threat.

"I'm curious to see how much that offense is going to improve from a passing standpoint," McElroy said. "[Judkins] was a one-man show last year. But I'm very convinced whether it's Spencer Sanders or Jaxson Dart - I think it'll be Dart - that the passing attack is going to improve drastically."

If the passing attack improves the way it is expected to thanks to another quarterback competition orchestrated by Kiffin, the Rebels will have an offense that can go toe-to-toe with anyone in their conference. Pair that with an improved defense now led by Golding, and Ole Miss might just be the most dangerous team in the SEC this fall.
