Ole Miss Rebels Earn Bid For Peach Bowl vs. Penn State Nittany Lions
After much debate, the No. 11 Ole Miss Rebels have secured a New Year's Six bowl berth, slated to face the No. 10 Penn State Nittany Lions in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta on Dec. 30.
For much of the last two weeks, the Rebels have been projected outside of the New Year's Six field, typically paired with the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Citrus Bowl, but late last night, the Rebels earned an early projection for the Cotton Bowl vs. the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Even though this projection in itself did not pan out, Ole Miss managed to squeak into the field, thanks in large part to the Florida State Seminoles failing to reach the College Football Playoff.
This marks the Rebels' second NY6 berth since Lane Kiffin arrived in Oxford, the first of which was a Sugar Bowl appearance at the end of the 2021 season. This also marks Ole Miss' third appearance all-time in the Peach Bowl, the second coming in the 2014 season when the Rebels were blown out 42-3 by the TCU Horned Frogs.
Ole Miss has an opportunity to make more school history, should it take down Penn State later this month. The Rebels have already secured the second 10-win regular season in program history, but they have never finished with 11 wins in a single season, a feat they would reach with a bowl game victory.
