Where Does Ole Miss Rank Among SEC Programs Entering the Summer?

How do the Rebels stack up to the rest of the SEC after yet another offseason of reloading via the NCAA Transfer Portal?

OXFORD, Miss. -- We have reached the "quiet part" of the college football offseason now that spring practices are finished, which means it is the perfect time to analyze how the Ole Miss Rebels stack up to the rest of the Southeastern Conference entering the summer. On3Sports released post-spring power rankings for the SEC on Monday and rated Ole Miss as the No. 5 team in the stacked conference.

The only teams ranked ahead of the Rebels were the Georgia Bulldogs (1), LSU Tigers (2), Alabama Crimson Tide (3), and Tennessee Volunteers (4).

Here is the excerpt on Ole Miss being rated as one of the top five teams in the SEC:

Lane Kiffin flirted with taking the Auburn job this offseason, but he opted to remain in Oxford, where he once again used the portal to reinforce the Rebels’ roster.

Ole Miss brings back one of the best tailbacks in the country in Quinshon Judkins, and it’s reloaded its offensive and defensive lines, as well as the secondary, via the portal. Jaxson Dart seemingly enters the summer with a leg-up in the three-man QB competition that includes transfers Spencer Sanders and Walker Howard.

Former Alabama DC Pete Goulding was brought in to shore up a defense that ranked No. 9 in the SEC in scoring in 2022.

After disproving the rumors that he was leaving for the Auburn Tigers, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin attacked the portal to bolster his roster and bring in competition for his sophomore quarterback Jaxson Dart. Kiffin also knew he needed to jump-start his defense, so he brought in former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Pete Golding. Under Golding, the Tide finished the 2022 season with the ninth-best scoring defense in the nation.
