Undefeated Season? Ole Miss Has a Chance at One in 2024
The Ole Miss Rebels are eyeing a College Football Playoff berth in 2024, but that path is wider now that the field is set to include 12 teams.
Even so, could the Rebels secure their first undefeated season in decades this fall? Bleacher Report recently released its list of college football teams with the "best shot" to go undefeated this season, and Ole Miss came in at No. 8 on the list. You can view an excerpt from the piece below.
When you think of recruiting juggernauts, the Ole Miss Rebels don't exactly come to mind, even though they've elevated that area under Lane Kiffin.
But the transfer portal is college football's great equalizer, and few are better at working that element than the self-proclaimed "Portal King," Kiffin. He was back at it again this offseason, supplementing an already-strong team.
Now, if he can dial up a way to make the chemistry mesh on the team, this is a team that deserves to be mentioned at the top of the SEC in '24 alongside Georgia, Texas and Alabama.
The Rebels held the third-best betting odds to win the SEC when Vegas released the numbers late last month, and they are also among the favorites to reach the playoff, from a betting perspective.
Ole Miss has a plethora of returning talent set to take the field this season, including names like quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Tre Harris and tight end Caden Prieskorn. As mentioned above, however, the transfer portal has also supplemented this roster nicely over the offseason, especially on defense.
On defensive coordinator Pete Golding's side of the ball, the Rebels added SEC talent in the likes of defensive lineman Walter Nolen, edge rusher Princely Umanmielen, linebacker Chris Paul, defensive back Trey Amos and others.

Ole Miss' schedule also appears to be somewhat favorable, as far as SEC slates go. Although the Rebels will face the Oklahoma Sooners and Georgia Bulldogs this season, they have the benefit of playing them in Oxford, and they will not have to face the Alabama Crimson Tide or Texas Longhorns in the regular season.
The Rebels are set to open their 2024 season at home on Aug. 31 when they play host to the Furman Paladins.
