Ranking Each Ole Miss Football Uniform Combo Used in 2023
For the second time in as many years, the Ole Miss Rebels wore at least 12 different uniform combinations this season, this time pushing the number to 13.
With a different look seeing the field each week, which one was the best, and which ones left something to be desired? That's the task I've taken upon myself on this Wednesday.
For starters, I don't think any of these combinations are bad, really, but some do rank lower than others. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to uniforms, especially at Ole Miss, meaning that typically, the powder blue and navy helmets will rank above the white, and I also favor the gray pants.
Still, this was somewhat of a difficult exercise, but below are my opinions of where each of Ole Miss' 13 looks this past season rank. I give the game's opponent as well as indicate the uniform combination in the following fashion: Helmet/Jersey/Pants.
Let's dive in.
13. Game 1 vs. Mercer -- White/Red/White
Ole Miss opened the season with a 73-7 shellacking of Mercer at home, but it also opened with its worst uniform combination of the season. For those of you who have read my uniform opinions before, I think this version of the Rebels' white helmet is completely unnecessary.
If you're going to have a white helmet, use the "Sugar Bowl" variety. Oh, and I also think that same lid with navy stripes instead of powder blue would look excellent too.
12. Game 10 at Georgia -- White/White/White
You're probably sensing a pattern with my first two selections on this list. Again, this look isn't "bad," but it doesn't serve a purpose to me, really. Also, not having any shade of blue in your uniform when playing the red-heavy Georgia Bulldogs is a crime. I said what I said.
11. Game 9 vs. Texas A&M -- Realtree/Powder/White
Do I have a problem with the Realtree helmet? Not at all, actually, but this look at 11 a.m. doesn't always do it for me.
Maybe it's just the lighting because I think this uniform combination would look much better in a night game under the lights. I'm also intrigued by the prospect of this helmet paired with a red jersey, and maybe we'll see that look in 2024.
10. Game 11 vs. ULM -- Patriotic Navy/Red/Gray
"I thought you were a traditionalist. Why is this one ranked so low?"
This uniform combination is one step away from being potentially Ole Miss' best look. The patriotic helmet decals are a great message and cause, but they always leave a little something to be desired for me in the uniform department.
These threads with the normal helmet decals probably ties for No. 1 on this list.
9. Game 2 at Tulane -- Sugar Bowl/White/White
All-white uniforms for Ole Miss are not usually my jam, but this is the best option the Rebels currently have in that department. This made for a pretty good uniform matchup in Week 2, but with Tulane wearing its light blue jerseys, a little more contrast would have probably been better here.
8. Game 6 vs. Arkansas -- Sugar Bowl/Powder/White
I'll say it: this look under the lights paired with Arkansas' red pants was pretty great. There's not much more to add other than that.
7. Game 5 vs. LSU -- Powder/Powder/White
On paper, the uniform combination against Arkansas might be a better look than this, but this combo is slowly becoming synonymous with Ole Miss' classic looks, especially against LSU (although the Rebels should wear Navy/Red/Gray against the Tigers, if you ask me).
6. Game 7 at Auburn -- Navy/White/White
Call me crazy, but I really believe this is one of the Rebels' best road looks. Something about this helmet over mono-white is very strong, in my book.
5. Game 12 at Mississippi State -- Navy/White/Gray
Simply put: it's hard to beat a classic, and this is the road uniform you think of when the Rebels come to mind.

4. Game 3 vs. Georgia Tech -- Navy/Navy/Gray
This look (and the same look with a red jersey in its place) is synonymous with Ole Miss. It looks incredible under the lights of a night game.
3. Game 13 vs. Penn State -- Powder/White/White
It was strange to put a combination featuring the white pants this high, but I think I'm at the point where I view this as Ole Miss' second-best road option. It is elite.
2. Game 4 at Alabama -- Powder/White/Gray
This is, without hesitation, Ole Miss' strongest road look. It may even be tied for No. 1 overall, but since I elected not to do ties for this piece, it gets the No. 2 slot since it comes away from home.
1. Game 8 vs. Vanderbilt -- Powder/Red/Gray
I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better look in all of college football than this one. Some fans have a gripe about the powder blue helmets paired with navy stripes on the gray pants, but that doesn't matter.
For years, this exact look was Ole Miss football, color contrast included. It pops on the field and on television, and it is one of the best uniforms in the game today.
