It’s time for another rendition of the Magnolia Bowl, as Ole Miss enters a must-win game vs. LSU on Saturday to keep its hopes for an SEC Championship berth alive. Unfortunately for the Rebels, their offense is having a hard time moving the ball this season, and this trend will continue against the Tigers. Ole Miss’ defense has improved, but quarterback Jayden Daniels is going to give the Rebels trouble.

This game feels like a matter of circumstance: LSU is playing great football while Ole Miss struggled last week in what was a prime opportunity to upset a down Alabama team. The Rebels are 3-3 in the last six legal games in Oxford, as 2013's win was vacated, so they at least have that going for them, but the Tigers' depth just barely puts them over the edge.

For the second consecutive week, Ole Miss faces another challenging top-15 matchup, and while the outcome won't determine the SEC West winner this early in the season, it will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the division's landscape as the race to the SEC Championship unfolds. The Rebel offense has faced difficulties when it comes to its rushing attack, and it's expected that the formidable Tigers defensive line should prove to be too strapping for Ole Miss to establish their ground game. Consequently, this defensive strength should stifle their running plays and remove any element of surprise as Ole Miss adjusts to the situation.

Everything in my brain is telling me to pick LSU here, but I can’t get past the feeling that Lane Kiffin and this offense figure it out sooner rather than later. That paired with this game being in Oxford is making me go with the Rebels in a close one.
