Patrick Broomfield Officially Joins Pete Golding's Ole Miss Secondary on Early Signing Day
OXFORD, Miss. – The recruitment for 2024 three-star Patrick Broomfield has come to a close, as the cornerback signed his national letter of intent with the Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday. Broomfield has been recruited for nearly a whole year, as the Rebels offered the Clarksdale, Miss., native in January, and he later announced his commitment to Ole Miss in May.
According to On3’s database, Broomfield is rated as the No. 81 cornerback in the class of 2024 and the No. 24 recruit in the state of Mississippi. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound defensive back is also listed as the No. 809 overall prospect.
As a junior at Clarksdale (Miss.) High School, Broomfield helped his team to a 10-2 record as the team’s lockdown cornerback and registered over 60 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and three interceptions, including one pick-6.
Broomfield will have to put on some weight, but the ball skills are certainly ready for college football. The newest addition to Pete Golding’s secondary flashed his ballhawk abilities during the 2023 Mississippi/Alabama high school all-stars game earlier this month.
Broomfield signed with Ole Miss over the Mississippi State Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Oregon Ducks, and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers among others.
Broomfield spoke with Rivals following his commitment in May and mentioned that something felt different about Ole Miss, but in a good way.
"[Ole Miss] just felt like home from the jump," Broomfield told Rivals. "When they first offered, I felt something different about them. And then when I visited, it felt like home to me."
