Quinshon Judkins Opens Up About Recruitment, Choosing Ole Miss
NASHVILLE -- Ole Miss Rebels running back Quinshon Judkins is not only the highlight of his team's offense entering the 2023 season, but he is garnering plenty of national hype as the season approaches.
Judkins was made available to the media on Thursday during the Rebels' turn at SEC Media Days, and he was asked to discuss his high school recruitment leading up to his Ole Miss commitment. The deciding factor? Head coach Lane Kiffin's innovative offensive mind.
"I think just as far as the situation that I was in, that he will put me in," Judkins said. "As far as in high school, being recruited by a lot of schools, it's hard to recruit a guy to a school and just have the situation that he wants at your school, your selling point. I think the selling point for me was how Coach Kiffin could use me in the passing game, the run game, not being a basic running back. Expanding my game and showing the NFL and everybody what I can do as a player."
Judkins has gained attraction as a potential dark horse candidate for the Heisman Trophy in 2023 after putting up record-breaking numbers in his freshman season at Ole Miss. The question with the Rebels has not been about Judkins' production, but it has been centered on the ongoing quarterback competition. Lane Kiffin was not asked a quarterback-related question during his time at the podium on Thursday.
Even with the quarterback position still technically undecided, Kiffin and the Rebels should feel very good about what they return at running back. With Kiffin's offensive mind, Judkins has seemingly found the perfect fit for his skillset in Oxford.
