Rebels Land Tulane Transfer DB Jadon Canady From Portal
OXFORD, Miss. -- Portal defensive back Jadon Canady announced his commitment to the Ole Miss Rebels on Thursday, adding another transfer piece to Lane Kiffin and Pete Golding's defense. Canady spent the last two seasons with the Tulane Green Wave.
The defensive back established himself as a key portion of the Tulane defense after arriving on campus in 2021, but he did suffer a knee injury partway through the 2022 season, only appearing in seven games. During his Green Wave career, Canady hauled in two interceptions and accumulated 69 total tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss.
According to reporting from Guerry Smith of NOLA.com, sources at Tulane indicated that they did not expect Canady to see the field of play in 2023 due to the severity of his knee injury sustained last season, one that tore the ACL and meniscus along with other ligament damage.
Canady is originally from Jacksonville, Fla., and he has two years of eligibility remaining in a collegiate uniform. The question now, however, revolves around whether or not he will be able to participate in action at all this season and help bolster the new defensive scheme under Pete Golding in Oxford.
Ole Miss is scheduled to travel to New Orleans and face Canady's former team this season on Sept. 9.
