SEC Week 12 Fan Nation Game Predictions

The staffs of three Fan Nation SEC sites provide their game predictions for Week 12 of the college football season.

The Ole Miss Rebels are traveling to Arkansas on Saturday.

Predictions for that game will come out later this week. But what about the rest of the SEC?

Staff members from All Aggies, Mizzou Sports Talk and The Grove Report provide their predictions for the rest of the SEC games this week.

Austin Peay at Alabama, 11 a.m. central, SEC Network+

Collier Logan, Staff Writer: Let’s be honest, this one’s a blowout for ’Bama. It’s just a matter of how much. Alabama 55, Austin Peay 3

Zack Dimmitt, Staff Writer: Austin Peay has one fewer win than Alabama this season and could potentially have the same record as the Tide by pulling off an upset on Saturday. But who are we kidding? Alabama 57, Austin Peay 10

Matthew Postins, Staff Writer: Hope the Governors like that cash money because that’s all they’re getting out of this. Alabama 60, Austin Peay 10

Cole Thompson, Staff Writer: They're winning. The second-team unit would win this game by at least three scores. The third-team unit would win this game by at least a field goal. Next. Alabama 63, Austin Peay 0

Connor Zimmerlee, Staff Writer: With most SEC schools playing non-conference this weekend, a lot of these writeups for me will be short. Alabama cruises past Austin Peay with relative ease, moving to 9-2. Alabama 69, Austin Peay 3

East Tennessee State at Mississippi State, 11 a.m. central, SEC Network+

Collier Logan, Staff Writer: Coach Mike Leach and the Bulldogs should make easy work of their non-conference opponent. Mississippi State 40, ETSU 17

Zack Dimmitt, Staff Writer: East Tennessee State has been in some high-scoring affairs this season. Saturday’s game will see tons of points scored again, but not in the favor of the Buccaneers. Mississippi State 49, ETSU 13

Matthew Postins, Staff Writer: Just a year ago ETSU was an FCS playoff team. Now the Bucs are 3-7. Mississippi State is gonna do bad things to them. Mississippi State 52, ETSU 10

Cole Thompson, Staff Writer: The Bulldogs close out their home season with a win over the Buccaneers. The reasoning? Really. Do I really need to give you one? MSU 45, ETSU 7

Connor Zimmerlee, Staff Writer: Mississippi State should have no trouble handling ETSU at home in what should be an easy win to move to 7-4 ahead of the last game of the season. Mississippi State 45, ETSU 7

UMass at Texas A&M, 11 a.m. central, SEC Network+

Collier Logan, Staff Writer: If the Aggies don’t stop the bleeding here, head coach Jimbo Fisher may be on his way out. They’ll need to play shutdown defense and, hopefully, A&M wins this game convincingly. They surely need it. Texas A&M 37, UMass 10

Zack Dimmitt, Staff Writer: Texas A&M has forgotten what it feels like to win. Luckily for the Aggies, UMass won’t be pulling off a colossal upset in College Station this time. Texas A&M 31, UMass 15

Matthew Postins, Staff Writer: If the Aggies can’t win this game, well, maybe coach Jimbo Fisher DOES deserve to be fired after all? Look, UMass has won one game and the Minutemen beat an FCS team to do it. I don’t care what ails the Aggies, they should win this game walking away. Texas A&M 58, UMass 10

Cole Thompson, Staff Writer: If Texas A&M loses — better yet, plays it close — to a team that's won three games in four years, Jimbo Fisher should be fired before walking off the field. There's no excuse for the losing streak to continue against a 1-9 Independent, and there's no coming back from it if you're Fisher. Texas A&M 41, UMass 10

Connor Zimmerlee, Staff Writer: Things are spiraling further and further toward rock bottom for Texas A&M, a team on a six-game losing streak. The Aggies should easily handle UMass at home. If they don't? Well, then no one will be safe in College Station. Texas A&M 42, UMass 10

Florida at Vanderbilt, 11 a.m. central, SEC Network

Collier Logan, Staff Writer: Vandy got their first conference win in three years last weekend, and they’re going to get another one here. Vanderbilt 17, Florida 13

Zack Dimmitt, Staff Writer: Vanderbilt had one of its biggest wins in recent memory by topping No. 24 Kentucky last week. But this win likely caught Florida’s attention, as the Gators will be looking to avoid a similar upset. The high the Commodores are on will be short-lived. Florida 37, Vanderbilt 13

Matthew Postins, Staff Writer: Vandy finally broke its SEC losing streak. Good for the Commodores. Time to start a new one. Florida 35, Vanderbilt 21

Cole Thompson, Staff Writer: Holy Vandy won a conference game! Better yet, the Commodores beat a Top 25 opponent and controlled the entire second half. Celebrate. Rejoice. Then, come back to reality and lose in The Swamp to Florida. Four wins in 2022? Better than what most people expected. Florida 34, Vanderbilt 17

Connor Zimmerlee, Staff Writer: If the Vanderbilt that beat Kentucky shows up, Florida could be in for a tough battle this Saturday. However, I don't see that occurring two weekends in a row and feel confident predicting a Florida win. Florida 49, Vanderbilt 20

Georgia at Kentucky, 2:30 p.m. central, CBS

Collier Logan, Staff Writer: Georgia’s passed every test they’ve taken in 2022. The defense may not be what it was last year, but the Bulldogs offense, led by quarterback Stetson Bennett, is flourishing. Georgia 40, Kentucky 21

Zack Dimmitt, Staff Writer: Even one of the few interesting games in the SEC this week is still fixing to be a blowout. Kentucky’s defense could give Georgia some early problems, but even on the road, the Bulldogs should be able to put this one away by the time the fourth quarter rolls around. Georgia 31, Kentucky 13

Matthew Postins, Staff Writer: I had hopes that this game would mean something. But, alas, no. Georgia 47, Kentucky 20

Cole Thompson, Staff Writer: This was expected to be a trap game for the Dawgs. Have you seen Kentucky's offensive line? Georgia wins by 14 while Kentucky quarterback Will Levis prays for mobility in his legs after the game. Georgia 38, Kentucky 10

Connor Zimmerlee, Staff Writer: Kentucky is fresh off of a loss to Vanderbilt while Georgia has looked like the clear-cut best team in the country, doing so in dominant fashion. Kentucky might keep it close but Georgia should cruise to a victory in this one. Georgia 49, Kentucky 21

Western Kentucky at Auburn, 3 p.m. central, SEC Network

Collier Logan, Staff Writer: Auburn and interim head coach Cadillac Williams get a win at home. Auburn 24, Western Kentucky 10

Zack Dimmitt, Staff Writer: Western Kentucky is a few plays away from being a 10-1 team. Auburn could get caught napping while looking ahead to the Iron Bowl next week. I’ll take WKU to bring home the upset win on the road. Western Kentucky 32, Auburn 29

Matthew Postins, Staff Writer: Beware this game, Auburn. WKU is one of the best that Conference USA has to offer. Western Kentucky 33, Auburn 27

Cole Thompson, Staff Writer: Amidst the chatter of a head coaching search, Auburn is 1-1 under interim coach Carnell "Cadillac" Williams. While the Hilltoppers aren't at the same level as East Tennessee State or Austin Peay, there's a difference between the two programs. Western Kentucky in Conference USA play has allowed teams to average 144.8 yards per game on the ground. Imagine what running backs Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter can do if they hit the right hole? The Tigers improve to 2-1 under Williams before the Iron Bowl. Auburn 34, Western Kentucky 17

Connor Zimmerlee, Staff Writer: This has been a season to forget for Auburn and now Western Kentucky is coming into Auburn on Saturday, only to make things worse most likely. Auburn will turn its attention to the offseason and determine who the next head coach will be. Better luck next season, Auburn. Western Kentucky 31, Auburn 24

Tennessee at South Carolina, 6 p.m. central, ESPN

Collier Logan, Staff Writer: Tennessee put up nearly 70 points last week. Quarterback Hendon Hooker is putting forth his best Heisman campaign and you can expect him to do more of the same in this one. Tennessee 50, South Carolina 21

Zack Dimmitt, Staff Writer: Tennessee won’t be making it to the SEC title game, but the Vols could use a blowout win over the Gamecocks to give the CFP committee a bit more motivation to include them in the Top 4. But even with a big win, Tennessee needs a lot of outside results to go its way. Tennessee 47, South Carolina 18

Matthew Postins, Staff Writer: South Carolina is a weird team. They’re just good enough to win this game. But the Vols aren’t going to let that happen. Tennessee 41, South Carolina 31

Cole Thompson, Staff Writer: Williams-Brice Stadium is the most underrated Saturday night atmosphere in college football. Too bad the Gamecocks are down two running backs and have quarterback Spencer Rattler tossing turnovers left and right. With the victory, the Vols guarantee their first 10-win season since 2007. Tennessee 38, South Carolina 17

Connor Zimmerlee, Staff Writer: This one could get ugly for South Carolina. Tennessee took a good Missouri defense to the woodshed, and the Tigers flat out dominated South Carolina. Tennessee will make light work of South Carolina, moving to 10-1 and one step closer to potentially sneaking into the College Football Playoffs. Tennessee 69, South Carolina 17

New Mexico State at Missouri, 6:30 p.m. central, ESPNU

Collier Logan, Staff Writer: The Tigers got stomped against Tennessee and they’ll be looking to get some revenge against anybody. Unfortunately for New Mexico State, the Tigers will come out firing at home and wide receiver Dominic Lovett should have a field day. Missouri 31, New Mexico State 14

Zack Dimmitt, Staff Writer: The Tigers are a better team than their record indicates. And on Senior Day in Columbia, I think Mizzou — behind an elite defense — gets its first blowout win since the season opener to move one step closer to bowl eligibility. Mizzou 41, New Mexico State 16

Matthew Postins, Staff Writer: So, Mizzou should win this game. But the Aggies have a vastly improved defense and given how offensively-challenged the Tigers have been all season, I could see the Aggies making this money game a close one. Don’t expect this to be decided until late. Missouri 27, New Mexico State 24

Cole Thompson, Staff Writer: Missouri needs two wins to be bowl eligible in 2022. The Tigers get one behind a solid performance from the defense against the Aggies at home. Missouri 31, New Mexico State 3

Connor Zimmerlee, Staff Writer: The Missouri offense finally came to life in a blowout loss against Tennessee last weekend, which bodes well for the end of the season. Now, two wins away from bowl eligibility, New Mexico State is the first team in the way of that goal. I think that Missouri gets dominant performances on both sides of the ball to secure its fifth win of the season. Missouri 42, New Mexico State 20

UAB at LSU, 8 p.m. central, ESPN2

Collier Logan, Staff Writer: LSU is a Top 10 team and the Tigers have been playing like it. They’ll get an easy home win here against UAB. LSU 29, UAB 13

Zack Dimmitt, Staff Writer: LSU is playing for the College Football Playoff and UAB will hardly stand in the Tigers’ way of potentially getting there. LSU 41, UAB 10

Matthew Postins, Staff Writer: I have no clue why this game is starting at 8. I saw UAB in person earlier this year. Fun team to watch. They can give LSU a little trouble, but not nearly enough to derail the Tigers’ momentum to Atlanta. LSU 57, UAB 20

Cole Thompson, Staff Writer: UAB is pesky but LSU is scrappy. According to the rules, scrappy trumps pesky. The Tigers get their ninth win on the season, just like we all predicted. LSU 34, UAB 14

Connor Zimmerlee, Staff Writer: After officially clinching a spot in the SEC championship game, LSU gets UAB at home. Look for LSU to have a fight on its hands, though, from a scrappy UAB team before pulling away with this one in the second half. LSU 49, UAB 21
