OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss Rebels have locked in another talented in-state prospect in the trenches, as 2024 four-star defensive lineman William Echoles signed his national letter of intent with Lane Kiffin’s program on Wednesday, officially joining Pete Golding’s first real recruitment class.

Echoles previously committed to the Rebels in July, and despite a few pokes from the Alabama Crimson Tide, stayed true to his commitment on signing day and cemented himself as the No. 3 recruit in Ole Miss’ 2024 class, per On3.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive lineman is rated as the No. 17 player at his position this cycle and the No. 3 recruit in the state of Mississippi, according to On3 rankings. The Houston, Miss., native is listed as the No. 144 overall prospect in 2024.

"First and foremost I want to thank God for putting me in the position I am in today. I would also like to thank my mother who was been there with me every step of the way. With that being said for the next 3-4 years I will be attending The University of Mississippi." -- Echoles via X (formerly Twitter) following his commitment to Ole Miss.

Echoles brings versatility to Kiffin’s roster, as the lineman played on both sides of the trenches in high school. He was recruited by Ole Miss defensive line coach Randall Joyner, so Echoles will likely spend most of his time attacking the quarterback rather than defending him, but it is a comforting thought knowing the big man is athletic enough to play both sides.
