Where Did Ole Miss Place in Learfield Director's Cup?

How did Ole Miss fare in the race for an award that takes all sports on campus into count?

With the Men's College World Series in the rearview mirror, the 2022-23 college athletics calendar has come to a close. How did the Ole Miss Rebels fare in the Learfield Director's Cup standings to finish out the year?

The Director's Cup takes the scope of athletics on campus into consideration, awarding points based on finishes and championships in each sport. For reference, after winning the CWS last season, Ole Miss finished at No. 20 overall, but after some difficulties this year, the Rebels finished at No. 39 with 593.75 points.

Although the Rebels did not crack the Top 25 in this year's installment, they did finish tops in the state of Mississippi with schools like Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Jackson State all coming in behind. The women's basketball team in Oxford was one of the heavy-lifters for the athletic department this year, bringing home 60 points after reaching the Sweet 16.

Football, men's basketball and baseball -- often considered the "big three" sports on campus -- brought home no points in the event after either lackluster seasons or finishes to the campaign.

The athletic calendar now turns to the 2023-24 cycle, beginning with football in September for Ole Miss. The Rebels will open their season on Sept. 2 at home against the Mercer Bears with a 1 p.m. CT kickoff.
