Rebels Land Commitment From In-State Four-Star DL Kam Beavers
OXFORD, Miss. — Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels have secured a big piece in their 2024 recruiting class, earning the commitment of four-star defensive lineman Kam Beavers out of Bay Springs (Miss.) High School.
Beavers made his announcement on social media on Sunday afternoon. He chose Ole Miss over offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks and Texas A&M Aggies.
In the 2022 season at Bay Springs, Beavers registered 52 total tackles and 13.5 TFLs according to the team’s page on MaxPreps. He will join new Rebels defensive coordinator Pete Golding who also tweeted a shark emoji on Sunday night, signifying a coming commitment.
Golding joined the Rebels staff from the Alabama Crimson Tide, and head coach Lane Kiffin has been high on his new DC since his arrival.
"I think it's really big," Kiffin said. "Very different scheme than what we played before as well as some new pieces. It's not just Pete. A lot of work to do there. We've seen the system work really well at a lot of places, and we just have to get our guys to learn it."
Last season under Golding's leadership, the Crimson Tide ranked ninth nationally in scoring (18.2 points per game) and 17th in yards allowed (189.3 per game).
Commitments like Sunday’s certainly show why Kiffin is excited about this new addition to his staff.
