Olympic Beavers: Jade Carey & Team USA Win Gold in Artistic Gymnastics

Oregon State gymnast Jade Carey is once again an Olympic gold medalist.

Tuesday at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the United States won the gold medal in the artistic gymnastics team final. The Americans finished with a final score of 171.296.

Carey, a junior at OSU, turned in a score of 14.800 on the vault, her only event of the day.

Carey previously won a gold medal in the 2020/2021 Tokyo Olympics in the floor exercise. Carey failed to qualify individually in the floor exercise earlier this week while fighting through an illness.

The United States have won the gold medal in artistic gymnastics three times previously: 1996, 2012, and 2016. The 2020/2021 squad won the silver medal in Tokyo. Team USA has medaled in the event every Olympics since 1992.

Carey will also compete in the individual vault finals later this week. That event scheduled for Saturday, August 3 at 10:20 AM ET/7:20 AM PT on NBC,Peacock, NBCOlympics.com.
