Former Oregon State LHP Matt Boyd Joining Cleveland Guardians
Over the weekend, the Cleveland Guardians announced the addition of left-handed pitcher and former Oregon State Beaver Matthew Boyd. Per MLB.com's Mandy Bell, Boyd is not expected to be ready to compete until August. His deal with Cleveland will run through the end of the 2024 season.

Boyd underwent Tommy John surgery last summer, which has kept him off the field for the last year, He had been a free agent prior to being signed by Cleveland.
He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. In MLB, Boyd has appeared in 174 games with an ERA of 4.94 and 845 strikeouts.

Boyd pitched three seasons for Oregon State 2010-2014. He appeared in 101 contests, with 20 starts. He finished with a record of 22-5 with a 2.13 ERA and 216 strikeouts.
The Mercer Island native is reportedly hopeful to become a solid addition to Cleveland's bullpen.
