MLB Draft: Oregon State Outfielder Micah McDowell Selected by Miami Marlins in Round 17
With the 514th overall selection in this week's MLB Draft, the Miami Marlins organization drafted Oregon State outfielder Micah McDowell in round 17.
The Canadian prospect was the seventh and final Beaver selected in this year's draft. He was preceded by second baseman Travis Bazzana (#1 overall, Cleveland Guardians), RHP Aiden May (#70 overall, Miami Marlins), RHP Jacob Kmatz (#157 overall, Tampa Bay Rays), RHP Bridger Holmes (#202 overall, Los Angeles Angels), shortstop Elijah Hainline, (#220 overall, Los Angeles Dodgers)
and first baseman Mason Guerra (#431 overall, Atlanta Braves).

McDowell played five seasons in Corvallis, starting 131 games of the 147 he appeared in. He was an All-Pac-12 honorable mention for the 2023 season. He finishes his college career with a batting average of .307 with 86 RBIs, 13 home runs, and 156 hits.
A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, McDowell helped the Beavers to a record of 45-16 and a berth in the Super Regional round of the NCAA tournament this past season.
