Former Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana played his first game in Minor League Baseball this week as arguably the most anticipated prospect in the history of the Cleveland Guardians.

In a 1-0 win for the Lake County Captains over the Great Lakes Loons, Bazzana hit a chopper towards the opposing second baseman. The defender opted to go for the out at second base unsuccessfully, allowing Bazzana to reach first base and the runner to score.

Bazzana struck out in his two other at-bats in the game.

The Guardians selected Bazzana #1 overall in this month's 2024 MLB Draft, making him the second Oregon State player to be selected in that spot. The Captains continue their series against Great Lakes this weekend in and return home for what will likely be Bazzana's home debut for Lake County on July 30.
