WATCH: Travis Bazzana's Family Reacts To His MLB Draft Selection

Travis Bazzana made history in multiple ways on Sunday. The Sydney native became the first Australian and the first second baseman. to be selected first overall in the Major League Baseball Draft. He also became the second Oregon State baseball player to be selected first.

Bazzana was surrounded by friends and family in Corvallis as he was named the newest member of the Cleveland Guardians. MLB captured the moment for the ESPN broadcast as well as social media.

Bazzana crafted an impressive resume in college, even at a historically successful program like OSU. In his final college seaosn, he set an Oregon State single-season record with 84 runs scored. Bazzana was the Pac-12 Player of the Year, hitting .407/.568/.911/1.479 with 28 home runs and 66 RBIs. He became the sixth Oregon State Beaver to earn unanimous All-American honors.
