This week, the Oregon State Beavers named redshirt junior and Idaho transfer Gevani McCoy as the starting quarterback. Ahead of his first start for OSU, McCoy is anticipating an Idaho State state defense that plays tough up front.

"I've seen that they really like to stop the run," McCoy noted of the Bengals defense. "They kind of dive down at times and things like that."

In that regard, Idaho State will have a tough group to contend with. Idaho allowed the second-most yards per carry in the Big Sky Conference last year at 5.6.

McCoy himself has some decent running ability himself. Over his final two seasons with the Vandals, he ran for five touchdowns and 277 yards. The majority of the running game will come from the rest of the Beavers' backfield, however, including a committee of Jam Griffin, Anthony Hankerson, and true freshman Salahadin Allah. Jake Reichle will also be incorporated in short-yardage situations.

"Our running game it's going to be very good. I'm just super excited to see Hank and Jam. Those guys can make plays and make guys miss. I'm just excited just to get the ball in their hands and just see what they can do, really."

The Beavers kick things off against the Bengals at 3:30 PT on The CW this Saturday.
