As the Oregon State offense still looks to figure out who their quarterback is, much of the offense seems to be more excited about the Beavs' running game heading into 2024. Included in that group is standout offensive lineman Joshua Gray.

"I think that everything builds off of the run, Gray mentioned to reporters Saturday. "So, if we get our run game going, then everything else is going to work off of that. It's going to be good."

The Beavers' running game will likely be a job done by committee in 2024. Jam Griffin transferred back to Oregon State after a season at Ole Miss where he carried just seven times, but saw significantly more use at OSU in 2022 with 86 carries for 488 yards. Colorado transfer Anthony Hankerson also averaged 4.1 yards per carry for the Buffs last season, and returner Jake Reichle will likely see usage in short yardage and goal line situations.

Trent Bray indicated that a starting quarterback will likely be chosen later this week. In the meantime, Lombardi Award-watchlisted Gray is fine to let the work in the trenches be the focal point of Oregon State's offense, that averaged 4.9 yards per carry as a team last year.

"I love that. We're playing old school style football."
