Oregon State Center, Colorado Transfer Van Wells Named to 2024 Rimington Trophy Watch List

The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in college football. 40 of the nation's best at the position were included in the award's preseason watch list on Friday.

Oregon State junior Van Wells was named in the group, adding to the anticipation of his first season in Corvallis.

Previously, the 6'2" 305-pound Houston native spent two seasons with Deion Sanders' Colorado program. Wells played in 20 games for the Buffaloes over the previous two seasons. As a sophomore in 2023, Wells earned a 80.7 pass blocking grade from Pro Football Focus.

Coming out of high school in the class of 2022, Wells was rated the #9 center in the nation by ESPN.

The Beavers open the 2024 college football season on August 31 when they host the Idaho State Bengals at Reser Stadium.
