WATCH: Oregon State Head Coach Trent Bray Talks Starting QB, Idaho State Game

The 2024 college football season begins this week for most of FBS, including the Oregon State Beavers, who host the Idaho State Bengals on Saturday, August 31. It will be the first contest for the Beavs since Trent Bray was named the permanent head coach, replacing Jonathan Smith.

Bray met with the media on Monday in Corvallis to preview the matchup and provide insight on the Beavs' depth chart, including the announcement of Gevani McCoy as the Beavers' sarting quarterback. Watch the full presser below.

Notes

-On the quarterback competition:"It was real close all fall camp. Just kind of the last week, Gevani was just on a big uptick. Kind of separated himself a little bit. So that's kind of what led to the decision to go with him."
-Idaho State, who led the FCS in passing yardage last season, present a unique challenge defensivly for a Beavs team that needs to find their feet quickly.
-Carries are going to be split up amongst all four of the running backs on the depth chart: Jam Griffin, Anthony Hankerson, Salahadin Allah, and Jake Reichle.
-Defensive line was the most improved defensive position group from the start of fall camp.
