Olympic Beavers: Marie Gulich and Germany Basketball Reach Knockout Rounds
Former Oregon State women's basketball star Marie Gulich has been representing her native Germany at the Paris Olympics this summer. Group play for the Olympic tournament wrapped this weekend, seeing Gulich and the Germans reach the quarterfinals after securing second place in Group C.
The former Beaver center helped Germany reach a record of 2-1 with wins over Belgium and Japan and a loss to the United States.

Gulich was a reserve in Germany's opening win over Belgium, playing 22 minutes off of the bench. She scored two points, plus seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block. Gulich got her first start of the tournament against Japan, playing 32 minutes with ten rebounds, six points, three assists, and a block. In Sunday's loss to Team USA, Gulich started again with 31 minutes, seven points, six rebounds, and two assists.
At Oregon State, Gulich was a member of the 2016 Final Four team and the 2018 Elite Eight run. She finished her college career fifth in program history with 843 rebounds and the fourth-best shooting percentage (54.5) in OSU history.
Germany will face France in the quarterfinals at noon ET, 9 AM PT on Wednesday, streaming on Peacock.
