Coach Mick Cronin has been in the news for some questionable remarks towards his players. The 53-year-old coach called them "too soft to play hard enough" after the 94-75 loss at home to the Michigan Wolverines back on Jan. 7.
“I have to run onto the court to get guys to play hard. It’s crazy, and it’s every day. I’m tired of it. I have the most energy of anybody in practice every day. I’m upset with everybody in that locker room, my assistant coaches and my players. I don’t need to do anything else. I almost got 500 wins... You’d think I’m coaching the Lakers... It’s a joke. Yet I come in and I have more passion and energy and pride than everybody.”

“So what the truth of it has been, it’s really hard to coach people that are delusional. The hungry dog gets the bone. We got guys who think they’re way better than they are. They’re nice kids. They’re completely delusional about who they are.. I’m searching deeply for some guys that will play hard enough to win a Big Ten game.”

UCLA is now on a four-game winning streak with victories over the Iowa Hawkeyes, Wisconsin Badgers, at Washington Huskies, and at rival USC Trojans. The Bruins are 10-1 in home games this season.
After going undefeated in the non-conference at 11-0, Oregon has been average at best in Big Ten Conference play with a 5-4 record. Coach Dana Altman needs to rely more on center Nate Bittle on the offensive end. He continues to prove to be one of the best big men in the nation as Bittle currently ranks No. 2 in the Big Ten at 2.0 blocks per game and No. 10 at 7.5 rebounds per game.
In the first matchup between these two former Pac-12 Conference programs back on Dec. 8, the Bruins upset the Ducks 73-71 at the Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene. UCLA guard Dylan Andrews hit a game-winning three-pointer in the close seconds.
Forward Tyler Bilodeau continues to lead the Bruins with 13.9 points per game while also snagging 4.6 rebounds per game. He's shooting at a high clip of 50.5 percent from the field which puts him at No. 8 in the Big Ten.
The defensive battle out on the wing between UCLA guard Kobe Johnson and Oregon guard TJ Bamba will be a matchup to an eye on. Both get out in the passing lanes out on the wing and turn defense into offense for both their respective teams. Both Johnson and Bamba rank No. 7 in the conference at 1.8 steals per game.
According to FanDuel, the Bruins are favored to win against the Ducks. The spread is currently 3.5 points in favor of UCLA, and the the over/under points total is set at 139.5. Money line for Oregon is +150 and -182 for UCLA.
