It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that Oregon wide receiver Brenden Schooler will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, signifying his desire to leave the University of Oregon.

Schooler started 10 games for the Ducks in 2018, but a broken foot sidelined him for the start of the 2019 season. Since his return, he has struggled to find a place in the offensive rotation, while young players like Mycah Pittman and Jaylon Redd have taken over a large share of the targets on offense. So far this season, Schooler caught two passes for 44 total yards, and he had a 23-yard reception on the opening drive against the Washington Huskies last week.

Schooler was a two-time first-team All-Pac 12 special teams selection, and when he originally came to Oregon, he played on the defensive side of the ball.

Schooler did not use his redshirt earlier in his career, and since he has not played in more than four games this season, he could be a graduate transfer that is eligible to play for a year in 2020.

Last season, Schooler finished the season with 21 catches for 203 yards and a touchdown. He also racked up seven tackles on special teams. Moving forward, it is believed that Schooler could choose to go to the University of Arizona, keeping him in the Pac-12 and putting him next to his brother, Collin Schooler, who plays linebacker for the Wildcats.

As a senior leader in the locker room, this will be a tough loss for the Ducks moving forward.
