Cristobal says Both WR Juwan Johnson, TE Cam McCormick Could Potentially Play This Week

Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said on Monday that Johnson if 50-50 to play on Saturday, while McCormick is still day-to-day.

As Oregon begins to prepare for their week 3 contest against Montana, offensive weapons Cam McCormick and Juwan Johnson remain sidelined, day-to-day with injuries.

Head Coach Mario Cristobal spoke with the media on Monday morning to address the injuries and provide an update heading into the week of practice.

“Juwan, we think is 50-50," Cristobal said. "He’s still coming around. It’s a soft tissue thing, so we expect progress and it’s going to be close. I think now we’re coming around to this thing could actually be a go.

As for McCormick, Cristobal said he was "day-to-day."

The Ducks have been waiting patiently for the return of Johnson, who’s one of many impact players yet to see the field this season, and in his case as a Duck, whatsoever. Should he return this Saturday, or stay out until the Pac-12 opener against Stanford, he’ll provide instant relief with his experience and size for the already depleted Duck offense. It sounds as if he should be back any day now.

As for McCormick, the offense can’t wait to have him back either. He, like Johnson, is seemingly very close to returning, but hasn’t practiced since the beginning of fall camp. When he’s cleared, expect the Ducks to proceed with caution as they ease him back into his role at tight end. 

Oregon will need their big guns as they inch closer and closer to Pac-12 play.
