The recruiting success continues for the Oregon Ducks, as they have secured a commitment from Bennett Williams, a defensive back from the College of San Mateo.

The former ESPN Freshman All-American announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks on Tuesday, choosing the Ducks over offers from Colorado, Houston, and Oregon State.

After starting his career at Illinois, Williams went to San Mateo Junior College in California, where he quickly rose to the No. 3 junior college safety in the nation. At 6'5" and 195-pounds, Bennett has the ability to put a lid on opposing defenses in the passing game with his height, and he's shown the ability to get in the mix with stopping the run as well.

At Illinois, Williams quickly established himself as one of the top defensive backs in the country, registering 64 tackles, three interceptions, a forced fumble, and two pass break-ups.

In October 2018, midway through his sophomore campaign, he was kicked out of the program for a violation of team rules for a non-violent offense. After transferring to the College of San Mateo, he has re-emerged as one of the top junior college prospects in the nation.

With the addition of Williams, Oregon's 2020 recruiting class continues to grow, as the safety will now join the ranks of players like Avantae Williams, Myles Slusher, and Jared Greenfield, as well as four-star cornerback Luke Hill. The Ducks have the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the Pac-12, and they are looking to continue to grow as the commits flow in.
