Jackson Powers-Johnson Declares for 2024 NFL Draft
Oregon Ducks junior center Jackson Powers-Johnson has declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He announced his decision over social media Monday afternoon.
"Thank you for giving me the change to live my Dreams," Powers-Johnson wrote in a farewell note. "I'm headed out to test my mettle in the NFL-Go Ducks Forever!"
Powers-Johnson is making the leap the NFL after being awarded the 2023 Rimington Trophy, which recognizes the most outstanding center in college football. He was also selected as an Associated Press first-team All-American on Monday, which continued a streak of awards throughout the year for his spectacular 2023 season.Â
The 6-foot-3, 320-pound offensive lineman out of Draper, Utah was one of the Ducks most consistent offensive lineman throughout the year and followed in the footsteps of long-time starter Alex Forsyth.
Powers-Johnson finished the 2023 season as the highest-graded center in college football, according to Pro Football Focus. He graded out with an 84.3 offense grade, a 90.6 pass block grade, and an 85.2 run block grade---all marks that were No. 1 among centers.Â
JPJ signed with the Ducks as a four-star (0.9216 per 247Sports Composite) recruit in the 2021 class from Corner Canyon High School in Utah. During his first two seasons at Oregon he played all over the offensive line, primarily playing offensive guard.
His athleticism, quickness and power in space are all part of what made him so special in the trenches and he'll be the latest in a long line of Oregon offensive linemen in the NFL, following in the footsteps of players like Outland Trophy winner Penei Sewell (Detroit Lions), Hroniss Grasu (Las Vegas Raiders) and Shane Lemieux (New York Giants).
