Oregon Duck Mascot Strikes Big Ten Again: Minnesota Golden Gophers
EUGENE - The Oregon Duck mascot is on a tour of Big Ten conference schools and stadiums. This time, the Duck decided to fly across the country to visit the Minnesota Golden Gophers at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Duck has many tricks up his feather sleeves. Where will the mascot go next?
Just yesterday, the Duck surprised the Nebraska Cornhuskers by attending coach Matt Rhule's opening press conference. The Nebraska media loved the silly visit.
The Oregon Duck mascot and brand is one of the most recognizable in the country and is certainly making a splash in their new Big Ten conference.
This is a perfect example of what Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning meant when he said, "Oregon is mighty different" at Big Ten Media Day in Indianapolis last week.
For their inaugural Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis, Oregon busted out a massive inflatable Duck to float the White River in downtown Indianapolis.
"I'm hoping we get to travel that Duck to all of our away games this year." Lanning said.
While the inflatable Duck might not hit the road this season, it looks like the actual mascot, might!
Also exciting is the Oregon offense this season. The Ducks enter the Big Ten Conference with one of the most explosive and exciting offenses in college football. The Ducks are led by the top-transfer portal quarterback in Dillon Gabriel, surrounded by dynamic playmakers and arguably the bestwide receiver unit in Oregon history.
In 2024, expect the unexpected.
"(Will Stein) has some crazy trick plays, always. He's drawing up on a napkin somewhere in a restaurant," said tight end Terrance Ferguson to Oregon Ducks SI's Bri Amaranthus. "Coach Stein's done a great job of being creative like that. And he really thrives in trying to get the players the ball in space. And I think that's really the best thing you can do."
