Are Oregon Ducks Transfer Portal Winners or Losers? Dan Lanning's Big Commitments, Departures
The Oregon Ducks have been very active in the transfer portal. The Ducks have lost multiple up and coming players but have also gained key pieces for their Big Ten and National Title push next season.
Are the Ducks a transfer portal winners or losers this offseason?
Oregon Ducks Winning in the Transfer Portal
Oregon Ducks fans have been looking for something to cheer about since the Rose Bowl vs. the Ohio State Buckeyes kicked off on New Year’s Day, The 13-0 Ducks ranked No. 1 in the country and fresh off a Big Ten conference championship got trounced by the Buckeyes 41-21, ending their season in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals.
Dan Lanning and the Ducks have been very active in the transfer portal, and it has resulted in some big additions for the 2025 season.
Oregon has gotten commitments from five different four-star transfers in this year’s portal. Running back Makhi Hughes from Tulane, tight end Jamari Johnson from Louisville, offensive tackle Isaiah World from Nevada, defensive lineman Bear Alexander from USC, and offensive tackle Alex Harvey from Texas State could all play very big roles for the Ducks next season.
As for the losses in the portal, Oregon had three four-star players transfer. Those players being wide receiver Ryan Pellum, cornerback Kamari Terrell, and quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolute. Pellum and Terrell saw very limited playing time in 2024, while Sagapolute didn’t even spend a second on the active roster.
Sagapolute is a class of 2025 prospect that flipped from California to Oregon on National Signing Day in December. Less than a month later, he changed his mind and is now going back to California.

Oregon Ducks 2025 Outlook
Once again in 2025, Oregon will have high expectations with a roster that is ready to compete at the top of the Big Ten.
Barring a late surprise, the Ducks starting quarterback in 2025 will be Dante Moore. A lot will be expected out of Moore, who sat behind Dillon Gabriel in 2024. Oregon has gotten some of the best quarterback play in the country since Dan Lanning took over in 2022 with veteran transfers Bo Nix and Dillon Gabriel.
Moore played his freshman season in 2023 at UCLA before transferring to Oregon in 2024. It has been a while since Oregon has had a quarterback as young as Moore start. Will the Ducks offense pick up where it left off and not skip a beat with Moore under center?
