Oregon Football WR Traeshon Holden Dismissed From Program Following Arrest

Holden committed to transfer to Oregon in December and was projected to be a significant contributor this season.

Oregon Football has dismissed wide receiver Traeshon Holden following an arrest on Wednesday, as was first reported by Jarred Denney of ScoopDuck On3 and confirmed to Ducks Digest by a university athletic department spokesperson on Wednesday. 

The Alabama transfer was arrested on three charges Wednesday, including unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and coercion, according to Lane County public records.

"We are aware of the incident involving Traeshon Holden, and he has been dismissed from our team," head coach Dan Lanning said in a statement issued by a university spokesperson. "We have high standards for the student-athletes, coaches, and staff in our football program, and we are disappointed when these standards are not met. We will continue to hold everyone in our program accountable for meeting our expectations.”

Holden committed to transfer to Oregon on Dec. 11 after spending his the last three seasons with the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. In his three years he caught 46 passes for 570 yards and seven touchdowns.

The 6-foot-3 wide receiver was projected to play a major role in the Ducks' offense in 2023, a position that lost a number of players this offseason including Chase Cota, who graduated, as well as Dont'e Thornton, Seven McGee, Isaah Crocker and Isaiah Brevard, who all entered the transfer portal.

The Ducks return wide receivers including Troy FranklinKris Hutson and Kyler Kasper while also adding Troy transfer Keyonteze Johnson as well as 2023 high school recruits Jurrion Dickey and Ashton Cozart
