Predicting the Final Score of No. 6 Oregon vs. No. 11 Oregon State

State bragging rights are on the line Friday.
In this story:

The No. 6 Oregon Ducks are set to face the No. 11 Oregon State Beavers in a massive rivalry showdown on Friday.

Oregon may have the momentum after a win last week, but the Beavers won last year's matchup with the Ducks 38-34. As such, Dan Lanning and Oregon know that Jonathan Smith's squad is dangerous and is not one to be taken lightly.

This week's game will be decided at the line of scrimmage. That was the case last year when Oregon couldn't stop the run, and the trenches will dictate this game once again.

Oregon has the offensive firepower to give the Beavers all they can handle. With that in mind, Oregon State's defensive front has been one of the best in the nation at getting after the quarterback, ranking fifth in the country in sacks with 36 on the year.

Jackson Powers-Johnson will be called upon to lead the offensive line against one of its toughest matchups to date and give quarterback Bo Nix, who's playing some of the best football in the country, time to operate in the pocket and keep him upright.

Expect Oregon to force the action and try to establish the run against a defense that's only allowing 103.3 yards per game on the ground. The Ducks have a ton of offensive momentum not just because they're putting up points, but they're getting contributions from just about everyone---which is yet another sign of how effective, efficient and balanced Will Stein's offense is.

I think Oregon's big test comes on defense.

They'll be tasked with slowing down yet another elite backfield in Deshaun Fenwick and Damien Martinez, two bruising runners who rarely go down on first contact and can make you miss. The Beavers have a very good offensive line, so the Oregon defensive front will need to have a big day to come away with the win.

As a defense the Ducks will need to get all 11 hats to the ball and swarm the ballcarrier every single play.

DJ Uiagalalei is the biggest difference for this offense from a year ago, as Oregon State has consistently fallen into that "one quarterback away" tier. I think he's a talented passer that's also more effective than you'd expect with his legs given his 6-foot-4, 252-pound frame.

The Ducks have the talent to keep the run game in check, but it won't be easy. I also give the Ducks the edge when it comes to their secondary and keeping OSU's wide receivers at bay. With both of Oregon State's leading receivers standing at just 5'8", the Oregon DB's have the clear size advantage, but Bolden and Gould are slippery, electric playmakers that will make you pay if you don't play disciplined football.

This should be a great game and tensions will be high with so much on the line. Jonathan Smith is a great coach that always has his guys ready to play, but I think Dan Lanning has proven that he can make adjustments game-to-game and on the fly when he needs to.

It’ll be a battle, but I see Oregon coming away with the win on Friday in the final meeting between these two teams in the Pac-12.
