Travis Hunter Responds to Dan Lanning's Comments on Colorado's Move to the Big 12
Conference realignment has been a dominant topic all throughout the offseason.
We all know Oregon is headed to the Big Ten, but before that became official, head coach Dan Lanning was asked for his reaction to the Colorado Buffaloes leaving the Pac-12 for the Big-12.
His response got people talking in the college football world to the effect of him 'dropping the microphone'.
"Not a big reaction," Lanning said back at Oregon's media day in July. "I'm trying to remember what they won the affect this conference. I don't remember. Do you remember them winning anything? I don't remember them winning anything."
Hunter gave his take on Lanning's comments this week during a recent live stream.
“What coach Dan Lanning is saying--that’s a very good guy. He recruited me at Georgia when he was there, so I like him,” Hunter said. “Like he said, we didn’t win anything, so right now we’re the underdogs. And we’ve got to take over no matter what they say."
Hunter has become the new face of Deion Sanders' Colorado team after electing to follow his head coach and transfer from Jackson State this offseason. He was ranked the No. 1 cornerback recruit in the 2022 class and had a previous relationship with Lanning from his time as a national recruit.
Hunter didn't lash out or saying he'll later regret, but opted to carry himself with poise and let his team's play on the field do the talking.
"We just basically gotta make them eat their words really. We can't pick at 'em. He's not saying anything bad he's just saying we didn't win anything. So it's like, yeah we know we didn't win anything, but we comin'."
The Oregon Ducks and Colorado Buffaloes will face each other on Saturday September 23 in Eugene at Autzen Stadium to open up Pac-12.
Until then, we'll have to wait and see who can earn the upper hand, but Oregon projects to be a heavy favorite heading into that game.
