This weekend, the No. 1 Oregon Ducks enter their heavily anticipated game against the No.20 Illinois Fighting Illini at the top of the college football heap. Though Oregon’s Dan Lanning stated in his pregame weekly interview, “We don’t care,” regarding the top ranking, Duck fans around the country are relishing the first time Oregon has been No. 1 since 2012. It’s safe to say, Autzen Stadium will be packed.

Illinois is currently 6-1 on the season and 3-1 in Big Ten Conference play. The Fighting Illini recently came off a 21-7 home win against Michigan. Their last and only loss was against No.3 Penn State on the road. Oregon is predicted to win this game by 91.4% according to the Football Power Index and is a 21.5 point favorite according to sports betting site Fanduel.

If Oregon wins against Illinois, it will mark their third win against a nationally ranked team this season (Ohio State and Boise State being their other two).

As always, Oregon isn’t going to step on Rich Brooks field, or any field, without a stylish uniform to boot. For their ranked matchup this week, Oregon is repping a familiar combination based on the “Stomp Out Cancer: Heroes” uniform designed by Sauphia Lanning and the Lanning family.

Modeled by offensive lineman Josh Conerly Jr., this uniform features the yellow “Stomp out Cancer” jersey with black and multi-colored details based off art drawn by the Lanning family. The jersey is paired with black pants, black undergarments, yellow gloves , and the cleats are not shown, but most likely are yellow. Oregon will use the “Stomp Out Cancer: Heroes” black winged helmets with multicolor details representing the many different cancer battles.

Oregon fans are encouraged to wear yellow to match the Ducks in Autzen this weekend.

Each uniform release this year is a part of the Ducks’ “Generation O” uniform line. This collection of uniforms is an ode to a decade of the university and athletic program being known for their “O” logo, which is based off the outline of old Hayward Field and Autzen Stadium stacked on top of each other to look like an “O”. “Generation O” also acts as a love letter to the uniform designs of old, bringing several previously used Oregon uniform motifs into futuristic designs.

There’s even a documentary the university released preseason about the Ducks’ relationship with Nike. That documentary “Rooted in Substance” can be viewed now on YouTube.

This uniform line, designed in part by Nike and Van Horne Designs, includes the “Gang Green” all green combination worn during the Ducks’ season opener against the Idaho Vandals, the “Mighty Oregon” white uniform with green helmet and green pants (an ode to the 1997 Ducks team) worn for the rivalry game against Oregon State, the “Heroes” uniform designed by Oregon coach Dan Lanning’s wife Sauphia Lanning and the family for a special cause and the Michigan State game, and the “Fly Era” all black uniforms debuting against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Oregon’s new uniform era is overseen by a group of football athletes and Oregon Equipment Administrator, Kenny Farr. The “Uniform Committee” chose particular decades of Oregon Football to honor through their uniform designs, and is crucial in approving designs before they’re manufactured by a company in Portland, Oregon. Farr joined the Oregon program in 2008 and is instrumental in the way Oregon utilizes their unique uniform designs.

You can see the Oregon Ducks wear these fly threads when they take on the Illinois Fighting Illini at Autzen Stadium on Friday, October 26th at 12:30pm.
