5-Star EDGE Nasir Wyatt has Home-Run Visit to Oregon

Nasir Wyatt is the top edge rusher in the 2025 class and you can expect the Ducks to be in the running until the very end.
In this story:

The Ducks hosted an insane group of 2024 recruits for the spring game, but you can't let five-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei edge rusher Nasir Wyatt get lost in the mix.

He visited Eugene for the first time and broke down the trip with Ducks Digest.

"The trip was actually a really great trip," he said. "Coach Rashad Wadood, he was touring me and my family the whole time. Oregon is just a real family environment. The coaches, they pride themselves on family and development. It's not just one coach at Oregon you know all the coaches. They made sure to really make me feel special when I was down there."

What stood out most to the 6-foot-2, 215-pound defender?

"What really stood out to me was Coach Tosh (Lupoi) and Coach (Dan) Lanning. They played a huge role in the defensive recruiting over there. Both of them got defensive background, one being at Alabama, one being at Georgia, so they already did what a lot of coaches want to do."

A track record of development for Lanning and Lupoi is part of the reason why the Ducks made such a great impression.

"They already got the blueprint," he said. "Already got the first-round draft picks, edge rushers. It was real great to hear what they think I can do for their defense."

Wyatt holds 15 reported scholarship offers ahead of his junior year with the Monarchs. Schools like Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Ohio State have already come calling for the nation's No. 1-ranked EDGE.

He opened up on where he stands with the Ducks after this weekend.

"Oregon is definitely top three," Wyatt said. "We've been building a connection since my freshman year. They're gonna play a huge role in my commitment. Even towards the end. They're gonna have a certified position.

"I feel like Oregon has a lot to offer. Their accolades and everything that they've done it speaks for itself."

Despite being one of the younger head coaches in college football, what Dan Lanning has been able to accomplish has pushed the Ducks toward the top of his list.

"Building up a whole national program and all of the recruits out of Georgia that went first round to the Eagles and Lanning, he was the one who built that," he said. "Give him his credit no matter what. He did. Now that he's at Oregon they're trying to build something even more special."

Wyatt has a couple of schools he's planning to see in the coming months after a home-run visit to Oregon.

"Ohio State is coming up. My next tour is gonna be at Notre Dame in June. I'm gonna go try to see Tennessee too, and Georgia. Some other schools that's been recruiting me heavy. Texas too, for sure."

He still has plenty of time to go in his recruitment and sees himself committing before the start of his senior season.

Development and being genuine are some of the most important factors he's weighing as this recruitment continues to heat up.

"Development and really just seeing who's about what they say. (Who) Really is devoted into helping you and coaching you. Setting you up to help your family out. Whoever just makes me feel like this the best option for me in my heart, that's the decision that I'm gonna go with."
