2024 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive lineman Aydin Breland is quickly approaching the finish line is his recruitment.

On Friday, the five-star (0.9800 per 247Sports) recruit announced that he will be making his college commitment on October 14.

Breland will make his college decision from a top three of Oregon, Georgia and Miami. He's currently the highest-rated recruit that is uncommitted in the 2024 class along according to 247Sports, which ranks him the No. 6 player in the nation. Other top recruits that remain uncommitted include five-star St. Louis (Mo.) University wide receiver Ryan Wingo and five-star Waco (Tex.) Connally cornerback Kobe Black.

PREDICTION: Oregon to land elite defensive back

Kirby Smart and the defending national champion Bulldogs seem to be the team surging in Breland's recruitment, as they got the All-American defensive lineman out to Athens for an unofficial visit on September 16.

He took official visits to Oregon, Georgia, Miami and Texas A&M this spring and summer prior to narrowing his list of suitors to three.

Oregon has prioritized Mater Dei in the 2024 class, landing a commitment from wide receiver Jack Ressler while also recruiting offensive tackle Brandon Baker (Texas), running back Nate Frazier (Georgia) and Breland.

Dan Lanning and the Ducks coaching staff would love to add him to a defensive line haul that already features Tione Gray (MO), Xadavien Sims (OK) and Jaxson Jones (AZ).

It has felt for a while like Oregon will need to get him back on campus for a visit before he makes his commitment. Now that Breland is set to commit on October 14, it's looking like a return trip out to Eugene could be difficult, as the Ducks don't have another home game until they welcome the Washington State Cougars to Autzen Stadium on October 21.
