Aydin Breland, 5-Star Defensive Lineman, Commits to Oregon Ducks
2024 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive lineman Aydin Breland has committed to the Oregon Ducks.
He announced his commitment on the 247Sports YouTube channel.
Breland chose the Ducks from a final three that also included the Georgia Bulldogs and Miami Hurricanes, but this was largely an Oregon vs. Georgia recruiting battle. Lanning and the Ducks find themselves on the right side of what’s become a familiar recruiting battle against Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
Just in this cycle, the Ducks missed out on running back Nate Frazier, who’s also at Mater Dei and linebacker Justin Williams, who both committed to the back-to-back defending national champions.
Breland took official visits to all three of his finalists, but Georgia got him back on campus in Athens for a final unofficial visit at the end of September. Following that trip, Breland set a commitment date, which led many to believe that Georgia was the likely favorite. But Dan Lanning, along with Tosh Lupoi and Tony Tuioti all kept working on Breland, who had been the highest-rated uncommitted recruit in the entire 2024 class.
The newest Duck stands 6’5” and weighs 290 pounds. He’s rated a five-star recruit according to 247Sports. The same service ranks him the No. 11 player nationally, the No. 4 defensive lineman and the No. 1 player in California.
With Breland in the fold, he joins a defensive line haul that includes Xadavien Sims, Tionne Gray and Jaxson Jones.
Following Breland’s commitment, attention now turns to fellow five-star defensive lineman Elijah Rushing, who recently decommitted from Arizona, as well as four-star Seattle (Wash.) O’Dea running back Jason Brown Jr. I have predicted both players to Oregon.
Breland is the latest big recruiting win for the Ducks out of talent-rich Southern California, and he’ll follow in the footsteps of former Adidas All-American and St. John Bosco standout Matayo Uiagalelei.
