Aydin Breland Announces Final Three Schools
2024 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive lineman Aydin Breland is nearing a decision.
On Wednesday, Breland announced his final three schools, and the Oregon Ducks made the cut.
The other two schools in the running are the Miami Hurricanes and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Breland is listed at 6'5", 290 pounds and is rated a five-star (0.936) recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the the No. 35 player nationally, the No. 6 defensive lineman and the No. 3 recruit in the state of California.
Dan Lanning and the Ducks have been recruiting the standout defensive lineman for a long time and he loves the coaching staff in Eugene.
"As of right now they just the home on the West Coast," Breland said of his interest in the Ducks last month. "They'd just be my home if I were to stay on the West coast. Like I always said I love Tosh Lupoi, I love Dan Lanning and I love Coach Tony (Tuioti). That coaching staff they have is legit."
Oregon is going against some stiff competition, but the Georgia Bulldogs are the main school that's sticking out.
Earlier this week, Breland scheduled an unofficial visit to see Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs this weekend when they face Spencer Rattler and the South Carolina Gamecocks in Athens.
"That's a national championship contending team all the time," he said of his Georgia interest in a recent interview with Ducks Digest. "They're really consistent at putting out D-linemen to the league and I've been to Athens a couple times and I love it there."
Breland has yet to set a commitment date, but one would think that it's not far off with his group of finalists continuing to shrink.
Oregon has three defensive line commits in the 2024 recruiting cycle in Xadavien Sims (Durant, OK), Tionne Gray (St. Louis, MO) and Jaxson Jones (Yuma, AZ).
The Ducks are also recruiting Breland's teammate, Brandon Baker, a five-star offensive tackle who will make his college commitment on September 24.
