He announced his decision on Monday morning.

Fields, listed at 6'2", 185 pounds, originally committed to USC on June 5, as the Trojans narrowly edged out Oregon for his initial pledge. Cornerbacks coach Donte Williams was the main recruiter on Lincoln Riley's staff, but Demetrice Martin never faded in his efforts to land one of the premier defensive backs out of Southern California.

It was clear the Ducks had a real chance to make some noise in this recruitment when the elite corner visited Oregon for their annual Saturday Night Live camp in Eugene in late July.

It's more of the same story for Martin on the recruiting trail. A Southern California native himself, Oregon's cornerbacks coach signed a trio of defensive backs from his old stomping grounds including Daylen Austin (Long Beach Poly), Solomon Davis (Charter Oak) and Under Armour All-American Rodrick Pleasant, who spent his high school career playing with Fields at Serra.

The Ducks newest commit is rated a four-star (0.9582) recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 83 player nationally, the No. 9 cornerback and the No. 10 recruit in California.

He becomes the second cornerback commit in Oregon's 2024 recruiting class under Dan Lanning, joining Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy All-American Ify Obidegwu.

Following Fields' commitment, Oregon's class is back in the top ten nationally, jumping from No. 13 to No. 9 in the 2024 team recruiting class rankings according to the 247Sports class calculator.

He's the first recruit to commit to Oregon since the school announced they would be leaving the Pac-12 to join the Big Ten conference in 2024. The next big-time recruit Duck fans will want to keep an eye on is 2024 St. Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan, who is expected to announce his college decision on August 13.
