Elijah Rushing, Five-Star Edge Rusher, Commits to Oregon Ducks
2024 Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic edge rusher Elijah Rushing has committed to the Oregon Ducks. He announced his decision on social media.
He committed to Dan Lanning and the Ducks after backing off a brief commitment to the Arizona Wildcats earlier this month, where he was the highest-rated commit in program history.
Rushing initially committed to Arizona in July, choosing the Wildcats over the Ducks, Tennessee Volunteers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and others. The Ducks were long considered to be the favorites to land his commitment, so it's no surprise that they stayed in the picture after his Arizona pledge.
His commitment to Oregon comes at the perfect time as the Ducks recently landed a commitment from five-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive lineman Aydin Breland and are trying to flip multiple top targets committed elsewhere. A few of those targets include running back Nate Frazier, Breland's teammate at Mater Dei who's committed to Georgia, as well as St. Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan, who's committed to Ohio State.
Oregon's Top 5 Flip Candidates in the 2024 Recruiting Class
Rushing's pledge makes him the second five-star prospect to commit to Oregon this cycle.
The newest Duck is rated a five-star (0.9861) recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 28 player nationally, the No. 3 edge rusher and the No. 1 recruit in Arizona.
He's the 24th player to commit to Oregon in the 2024 recruiting class and the third player from Arizona, joining Phoenix quarterback Luke Moga and Yuma Catholic edge rusher Jaxson Jones.
With Rushing in the fold other big names to watch in the 2024 class include five-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive tackle Jordan Seaton and Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day edge Solomon Williams, who were both in Eugene to visit for the Washington State game.
