Ify Obidegwu, All-American Cornerback, Commits to Oregon Ducks
2024 Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy cornerback Ify Obidegwu has committed to the Oregon Ducks.
"I'm Home! 100% committed! #ScoDucks," he wrote on social media.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback placed Oregon in his top seven schools back in February along with the likes of Alabama, Ohio State and USC. On Sunday, he decided it was time to become a Duck, following trips to Eugene in both March and January this year.
He's a four-star (0.9517) recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 99 player nationally, the No. 11 cornerback and the No. 2 player in the state of Maryland.
Obidegwu is the first cornerback to commit to Oregon in 2024 as coach Demetrice Martin looks to follow up a stellar 2023 recruiting cycle that saw him take home Pac-12 Recruiter of the Year honors from 247Sports. The Baltimore standout becomes the eleventh commit in Dan Lanning's 2024 recruiting class alongside fellow bluechippers Jordan Anderson (WR) and Aaron Flowers (safety).
The Ducks continue to recruit on a national scale and St. Frances Academy is one of the truly elite programs in the country among the likes of St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) and Duncanville (Duncanville, TX).
Dan Lanning and his coaching staff may not be finished at St. Frances Academy in 2024, as they're also heavily recruiting Panthers quarterback Michael Van Buren, who put the Ducks in his top three along with Penn State and Maryland and visited Eugene for the spring game.
