Kam Alexander, UTSA Cornerback, Commits to Oregon Ducks
Dan Lanning and Oregon continue to stack talent for the 2024 season.
UTSA cornerback Kam Alexander has committed to the Oregon Ducks. He was on campus in Eugene for an official visit over the weekend and announced his decision over social media on Monday morning.
Alexander spent last season in San Antonio with the Roadrunners and was named defensive MVP in their Frisco Bowl win over Marshall. Prior to that he played four seasons at Sam Houston State, however he only appeared in four games in 2022. He entered the transfer portal on December 28 and also drew interest from Florida, Kentucky, TCU and West Virginia.
In his one season at UTSA he registered 34 total tackles, 17 pass breakups, and 2 interceptions. He was also active in the backfield, registering one sack and two tackles for loss.
While at Sam Houston State he recorded 52 total tackles. 19 pass breakups and 3 interceptions. The speedy defensive back also played in the kick return game. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback will have one season of eligibility remaining upon enrolling at Oregon later this week.
Now on his way to Oregon, Alexander will fill a need in the secondary following cornerback Khyree Jackson's departure to the NFL.
He'll likely slide in next to Jahlil Florence, Dontae Manning and Rodrick Pleasant in the secondary. Other names to watch in Oregon's cornerback room include junior college standout Sione Laulea III as well as former four-star recruits Dakoda Fields and Ify Obidegwu.
Alexander is originally from Manvell (Tex.) High School and marks the second addition to Oregon's secondary from the transfer portal this offseason, joining former Kansas State safety Kobe Savage. He's the seventh overall player to commit to Dan Lanning and the Ducks from the transfer portal.
